As I went to the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig yesterday for one last time, I made my final farwells to my supportive colleagues, those who still continue to suffer under its oppressive beaurocracy. Despite my desire to be with them in this time of crisis I must decide in favor of my family priorities and find a new venture. Hopefully as I write this, things will get well in that school, or worse comes to worst (which is usually the case in this school as my co-teacher often say), there will be an exodus of bright minds, the University president among them. God forbid when that happens for it means the enemy has won.
So my dear comrades, fight on until the end for this old soldier must hang his uniform in place of a new one. For now, I must clear my mind, my pen, my rifle.
What you heard is true, I have for the past two months been telling the administration that I will no longer renewing my contract. Right now I have been accepted as incoming faculty of the College of Tourism and Hotel Management in the University of Santo Tomas, my Alma Mater.
Once I get my load, I can then say I am finally home.
Home. Such a nice and comforting word. There will also be some problems here of course. I am sure of it. No school is ever without one. But to be home is a different feeling.
Fare you well, PL Pasig, I'm turning on a new leaf.
Starting June, a new adventure begins.
